Where has the year gone??

My goodness!

It has been several months since my last post, I had no idea. This year has just been so hectic with school, family, and other commitments.

I’m hoping to blog more during the holidays, but the blog theme will be changed. I’ll still have makeup and fashion posts, but I’ll also include other interests of mine, such as fandoms, books, and games.

See ya soon

Alice in Wonderland Cosplay

So I’m cosplaying again! This time as Alice from Alice in Wonderland (the original Disney version).

This outfit is just so cute, I can’t wait to see the costume come together. I’ll be making the entire costume from scratch, so hopefully it all turns out okay!

As I make it, I’ll be putting up tutorials on how I make each piece, so if you are inspired by my cosplay, then you might make your own. As each post is done, I’ll post links to them on this post, so you can find them all 🙂

I only have a month, so here goes!!

Cosplay – Shadow Hunter

Hey guys!

Long time, no see, eh?

But it’s school holidays at the moment, so I’ll write a ton of blog posts and schedule them, so even if I’m busy, you’ll still have new content 🙂

Last Sunday, my town had their very first cosplay event! It was very exciting. I went as a Shadow Hunter from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. SUCH an amazing series, I highly recommend.

I apologize in advance for the bad quality photos. They were taken on my phone.

Let’s get started!

What I wore:

20150920_102648    20150920_145123

So let’s start from the top.

I wore a black cami (because that’s all I had on hand) and to cover up the cami and my bra straps, I wore a shrug that I made, using this tutorial.

I was wearing a little mini skirt that I also made from some ribbing. I really like ribbing, because it’s stretchy, so you just have to sew up the sides, and it will stretch around your hips 😉

Next, are the black skinny jeans. These were the only things I didn’t have in my cupboard, and boy! Were they hard to find! I went to at least eight shops trying to find them. I had a budget of $20 and I found them in a shop for $35. But I finally found them in another shop marked down to $18. Yes!

I wore black motorbike boots, similar to these.

I started off wearing my leather jacket, but because it was so warm and inside, I ended up just tying it around my waist.

Also around my waist, I had a small brown bag. It’s actually a shoulder bag, but I slid it over my waist and then tightened the strap to make it smaller.

Attached to my bag strap is my handmade stele and stele bag.

I left my hair down (kinda regretted that I didn’t put it up, because I got really hot). I did a slight smokey eye using this tutorial, and added a bit of mascara and lipgloss.

Other Suggestions:

The great thing about a Shadow Hunter cosplay, is that it’s for both boys and girls and totally versatile. As long as it’s black, it’s pretty much an outfit for a Shadow Hunter. Here are some examples I found on Pinterest.

fecb579f7c85ba5e1616a69df5213b56 89d339254872ebdfd659f95776a7eabd (1) c037112f2ea60b7b671949fe48c566d3

Leather jackets, combat boots, and smokey eyes (if you’re a girl) are definitely the way to go.

Just a note: If you’re going to wear skinny jeans, DON’T wear knee-high boots. Just don’t. It looks ridiculous. Mini skirts and knee high boots are a much better combination. You can even add some black stockings if you want. Skinny jeans look much better with ankle or combat boots. Even a pair of black converse will do.

I hope you enjoyed this cosplay post. This was my very first cosplay and I’m hoping there will be many more to come!

Comment down below if you have any suggestions.

Tips for looking your best while you’re sick

Hi everyone!

First of all, my apologies for not posting on time. You see, I have been, and still am, sick with flu. It’s been a blast. *sarcasm*

So, with my sickness in mind, I thought I would write this post to give you my tips on looking your best while sick.

You’ve heard it many times before, but keeping up your fluids is so important! Keeping hydrated is important for so many reasons. When your body doesn’t have to worry about conserving water, it will be able to fight the disease much better. Water is also really good to stop acne breakouts that can come as a result of being sick.

Water is the best liquid as it’s healthier for your body, but cordials or teas are also a good choice, as they’re mostly water-based. Warm drinks are good for keeping your throat warm. Try and avoid coffee or soft drink as these don’t stick in your system long and aren’t healthy any way.

Another obvious and overstated one is sleep, but this is also really important. Sleep allows your body to fight the disease quicker, while getting your beauty sleep at the same time.

Red Noses

So this isn’t the type of red nose we’re talking about, but everyone gets red noses during colds and flus. Not only are they sore, they also don’t look very pretty.

One thing that’s a life saver is paw-paw ointment. The best brand is Lucas Paw-Paw Ointment.

It comes in two different size containers and little squeezy tubes. It’s great for rashes, cuts, and even as a lip balm for dry and cracked lips. This thing is seriously a miracle ointment. We have like five containers of the thing lying around the house and I always carry a tube with me. If you get a big container, it lasts for ages.

A simple moisturiser is also another good way to go. Just make sure you reapply often, because as you’re blowing, you’re wiping it off, and drying your nose out at the same time.

If you’re going out and you simply HAVE to put on makeup, keep face products, especially around your nose, to a minimum. This will keep your face from drying out. Just remember to keep an eye on your makeup to make sure it’s not affecting your nose or that you need to touch up after blowing!

Vitamins are so important. Even if you normall take them on a day-to-day basis, you still need to take extra. Vitamin C, Marshmallow, Fenugreek, and Astragulus are good ones to start on. You can get these from most pharmacies.

So what are your ways to looking and feeling your best while sick?

Stay healthy!

Disclaimer: I’m not being sponsored by Lucas Paw-Paw Ointment. All opinions are 100% my own

Note: I am not a doctor. The vitamins which I have recommended are ones that have worked for me and my family, but may not work for everyone. The advice I have given is what I have learnt through the years, and what has been told to me by my mother (thanks mum!) and doctor friends.

Natural Makeup

So, one thing about me, I’m allergic to most eye makeup.

When I wear normal brands, like Mac and ELF, my eyes go all red and puffy and irritated.

Not nice.

So I’ve switched to natural makeup, in pretty much everything. While it is more expensive, because I use it very irregularly, it lasts for ages.

Some benefits to natural and organic makeup are:

  • You avoid chemicals and other hidden nasties that can damage your skin
  • You can improve the condition of your skin
  • The natural properties have often been known to improve the appearance of dermatitis, acne, rosacea and blotchiness
  • They’re eco-friendly

Although I make most my own makeup where I can, two of my favourite brands are Pacifica Beauty and The Body Shop. They have every single beauty product you could wish for, and it’s all natural.

Eye Shadow

Charmed Box

This is the Charmed Eye Shadow Palette from Pacifica, which is the one I have. It works really well. It goes on without eye primer, it stays on for at least 8 hours without needing to reapply (I don’t know the exact length. 8 hours is the longest I’ve had it on for). It doesn’t crease, and it doesn’t irritate my eyes. The colours are Unicorn – white with sparkling shimmer, sky – pearl blue, charming – pinky peach iridescent, sparkle lilac – shimmering blue, moody – super moody grayish violet iridescent, alchemy – crazy beautiful pearly bronze, and avalon – warm cocoa with golden hues. I don’t use sky and charming that much – not really my colours – but I use the others a lot.

Mystic Eye Shadown Palette

This is the Mystic Supernatural Eye Shadow Palette, also from Pacifica. It has darker colours, so if you have a darker skin tone, or just like a dramatic flare, these would work well.

Colour Crush Eye Shadow

These are the Colour Crush Eye Shadows from The Body Shop. These are definitely more expensive than Pacifica, usually around $10 more. These big containers are one for usually $14.95. If you want something smaller, a good one would be their Shimmer Cubes, such as this one:

Shimmer Cubes Warm Palette

These are four smaller eye shadows. The disadvantage? They’re $29.95. Yep. Which, if you use them irregularly, and want more colours, then it works out pretty well.

EyeLiner and Mascara

Eyeliner and mascara are the items that pretty much everyone uses. Most people, even if they don’t wear any other makeup, will throw on a bit of eyeliner or mascara, just to freshen their face up. Like eyeshadow, this can be pretty irritating for the eyes.

Stellar Gaze Length and Strength Mineral Mascara Supernova

Pacifica has two different types of mascara. A Strengthen and Lengthen mascara that comes in black and brown, and a waterproof one that comes in black and blue.

Smolder Eye Lining Gel Anchor Natural Eye Pencil Jet

They also have some gel liners, and a selection of liner pencils, which come in different colours.

Divide and Multiply Mascara

The Body Shop has a larger range of mascara for different functions, such as super volume and define and lengthen, which also come in different colours.

Liquid Eyeliner Skinny Felt Eyeliner

Their eyeliner collection is also bigger, containing gel liners, liquid, pencils, eye definers, and felt tips. Again, they’re also more expensive.

Foundation and Facial Creams

Foundation is another thing that a lot of people use. Unfortunately, that is another product that has hidden nasties in it. I make my own, as it’s a lot easier to match the colour to my whiter-than-Snow-White complexion. Just be careful when choosing a foundation or other face cream. Most of them have sunscreen in them, and if like me you’re allergic to most sunscreen, you have to be extra vigilant!

BB Cream Dreamy Cover Bare-Faced Serum Foundation

Pacifica have a fairly large range when it comes to foundation and BB and CC creams, so it should be pretty easy to pick one to match your skin tone. They also have concealers and under eye brighteners. They also have a few powders, so if you’re more of a powder person, you should be fine.

All-In-One BB CreamExtra Virgin Minerals Loose Powder Foundation

I’ve used The Body Shop’s All-in-One BB Cream before, and I can honestly say that it’s pretty amazing. They have five different shades (I’m the lightest, surprise surprise) and the way it works is surprising. It comes out white, and as you rub it in, it changes colour to match your skin tone. When you look at it, you can tell that it’s a bit darker, but it doesn’t give you a caked on look, which is great. It lasts for 24 hours and it smells really good.

They also have a ton of cream and powder foundation, BB and CC cream, primers, concealers, and under-eye brighteners.

Don’t fret! We’re almost done with this long post 🙂

Enlightened Gloss Pink Coral

I’ve used this pink coral lip gloss before, and it’s a really good colour. It goes on easily, stays on for a while without needing to reapply, and smells really good. They have some pinks, purples, and even golds.

Devocean Natural Lipstick Tenderness

They also have a few different colour lipsticks, mainly varying shades of pink, but also some reds.

Lip and Cheek Stain Pink Lip Gloss Raspberry

The Body Shop again have a bigger collection, consisting of lip gloss, stains, sticks, and liners.

I’ve only tried their lip glosses, but let me tell you, they’re pretty addictive. Once you try one, you’ll probably want to get more.

If you’re not sure if you’ll like the products, they do offer gift sets of slightly smaller products, so you can get like a pack of maybe a foundation, lipstick, eyeshadow, and nail polish.

Overall, my favourite is Pacifica Beauty. While The Body Shop does have more products, Pacifica have cheaper products and they’re slightly more natural.

So thanks for sticking with me through this long post about natural makeup! I hope it gave you some pointers. If you would like, I can show you how I make my makeup!

Cute Date Night Ideas

If you’re not like me and actually have a boyfriend (or girlfriend), then chances are you go on dates. Don’t panic! Here are some cute date night outfit ideas. Let’s begin!
Formal Date Night
Some dates, you need a formal outfit. For example, a nice restaurant, maybe you’re going to see a play, or you just want to look nice. Here are some ideas.
Formal Date Night
This dress is a good one to have in any wardrobe, because it’s so simple. You can do so many things with it. Wear it out shopping with a simple belt, a nice dinner with a chunky necklace – such as the one shown above – with some beautiful stockings, the sky’s the limit! Use your existing wardrobe, and go wild.
Winter Date Night
Here in Australia, it’s currently Winter. So it’s cold, despite that people think it’s Summer all year round. It’s not. This outfit was inspired by one of my friend’s outfits, which I think is adorable.
Winter Fashion
I love coral and beige and they go so well together. Trench coats, boots, and scarves? Sign me up!
Dance Night
One thing my friends know about me, is that I love the Rockabilly era. Big skirts, pin-up curls, and bright lipstick were all the range, and frankly, I think it should be still. Some places hold Rockabilly nights and if you’re going, you’ll need to be prepared.
Rockabilly Dance Night
Black and red were a classic colour combination back in the 50’s and no wonder! This outfit has everything. A big skirt, polka dots, red lipstick, fishnet heels… Go glam yourself up girl!
Music Festival/Concert Date Night
Concerts and music festivals are great places for dates, and these are some great outfits for just such an occasion.
Music Festival Outfit
These are mix-and-match outfits that are great for summer or concerts. My favourites are the teal outfit and overalls and Doc Martins with the flower crown. But they’re all gorgeous.
5 Seconds of Summer Concert Outfit
I made this for a 5 Seconds of Summer concert (as you can probably tell), but if you substitute your favourite band merch in place of the ones I have here, it’ll work for any concert! Just look through your cupboard.
So that’s the end of our date outfits. I hope it’s given you some inspiration for your next date. Thanks for reading and leave a bit of love!

Fandom Fashion

Fandoms are amazing. You meet some amazing people who are just as obsessed and insane as you are. Chances are, you’ll end up in the same insane asylum together.

Yep, anyway…

One of my favourite things about fandoms is the merch. I mean, the only merch I have is Tardis sheets, but I like drooling over everything.

This is a polyvore collection I designed for fandom street styles. These are piece that I personally love, and would buy if I had a job.

What fandom merch pieces do you have? What’s your favourite?

– So I thought I would see how well you guys know your fandoms. Comment, and the first person to get all the fandoms right, wins a polyvore edit of their choice. Go!
